re. Ignatieff speech triggers race in earnest: March 31
Although Michael Ignatieff vigorously supported the U.S. invasion of Iraq, I wasn't surprised by his recent admission that former prime minister Jean Chrétien was correct to keep Canadian troops out of that war. Nor was I shocked by his promise that he would not send our troops into harm's way without the support of the Canadian public. This backpedalling, in fact, only reinforces my belief in his ability to lead the Liberal party. A perfect Liberal leader says what it takes to get elected but has no real intention of following through.
