When handgun fans complain that criminals don't bother with the legality of owning guns, they miss the point. It doesn't take an incident like this where someone used a "legal" handgun to commit murder to see the problem.

Criminals get their guns from two sources. They get about half of them smuggled in from the United States where gun laws are notoriously lax but they get the other half through the theft of "legal" guns. Banning handguns would cut off a major supply of illegal weapons.

There are plenty of other sports target shooters can take up that don't involve easily concealable weapons. How many more people have to die before our governments stand up to the gun lobby?
