re. Province names mediator for hospital dispute

There really doesn't seem to be much to mediate in the dispute between the community and the hospital's board. The board has consistently ignored both the community and hospital staff. And it has tried to set up a system where only the current board members get to decide who sits on the board.

It is disingenuous of them to now say they are willing to listen. They had their chance last year when they refused to let community members vote. And they had their chance to do the right thing when they lost the court challenge. The very fact that they are appealing the ruling shows they have learned nothing.

Rather than appointing a mediator, Smitherman should lay down the law to the hospital board - insist they drop their appeal and hold immediate elections for a new board.
